With the release of the latest Harry Potter movie one of the hottest adult costumes this year is dressing up as Harry Potter himself.

Harry Potter Half-Blood Prince, based on the novel from J.K. Rowling, it is the sixth film in the Harry Potter film series. It was released on July 15, 2009 and opened to critical acclaim, breaking the records for the biggest midnight opening gross of all time as well as the biggest single-day worldwide gross of all time. It is a phenomenal movie that picks up the story line where Voldemort is gaining control of the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts School is no longer as safe as it once was. Harry already suspects that dangers lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more focused on preparing Harry for the final battle that is fast approaching. Together they work to find the secret to topple Voldemor’s defenses.

• Harry Potter Gryffindor Robe – the best Harry Potter adult costume we have seen includes a black robe with a Gryffindor Crest embroidered on the front, hood and burgundy lining like this one from BuyCostumes.com. It is available in adult sizes up to men’s jacket size 44.

Add your own black pants, black shoes and white collard shirt to the robe to complete the Harry Potter adult costume look as shown.

Harry Potter Accessories to complete your Harry Potter adult costume:

• Harry Potter Glasses – Every Harry Potter fan knows that Harry is never seen without his trademark round glasses.  Adding round glasses to your costume is an easy way to add authenticity to it. We found three great options for Harry Potter Glasses all for under $5.00!

• Harry Potter Gryffindor Tie - all students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry are required to wear ties that represent the house they were sorted into.  Harry was sorted into the Gryffindor House and wears their colors, scarlet red and gold. There are some great options available for Gryffindor ties that have the Gryffindor crest embroidered onto them.  You can also create your own Gryffindor tie by taking some red felt fabric, cutting it into the shape of a tie and painting gold stripes onto it.  For the Gryffindor crest, you can print out the crest onto iron-on transfer paper and iron it onto your tie.  Many options to choose from and all would work great.

• Harry Potter Wands - every magical wizard needs a magical wand to cast spells with.  This year there are so many different choices for Harry Potter wands that its hard to pick just one. We found wands that light up and wands that are motion activated, light up and have sound!  Very cool options this year.

• Harry Potter Scar and Makeup Kit and Lightning-Bolt Tattoos – When Harry Potter was 1 year old, he survived an attack by the evil Lord Voldemort which left Harry with a lightning-bolt shaped scar on his forehead.
